Moomba festival

It’s late summer here in Australia, which means it’s festival season. And Melbourne is no exception.

A few weeks ago, there was White Night, and this weekend it’s Moomba.

White Night Melbourne

Melbourne is known in Australia for its many festivals. And, indeed, if you check the relevant websites, there is something to do almost every weekend of the year.

But one of the really big ones in White Night Melbourne. It’s a music and arts street festival, for one night of the year, starting at 7pm and lasting till 7am the next morning. It takes place on and around Swanston Street in downtown Melbourne, which is completely blocked off for all traffic (including trams).

At the Aussie Millions

While Melbourne is quite literally on the other side of the Earth from Europe, this does not mean that there aren’t any internationally major events being held here. (And no, dear Ossies, the Footy Final is not one of those. Sorry.) The most popular one happening right now is the Australian Open, with the F1 Grand Prix following in March.

Great Ocean Road our experience

The Great Ocean Road is one of those famous routes that you have to have seen when you are in Australia. The expectations that we had was a coastal route similar to the French Cote d’Azur. Beautiful scenery with a small or bigger ‘tourist’ village every few km’s. We wanted to go to a campsite at the Great Otway National Park, close to the town of Cape Otway, almost in the middle of the Great Ocean Road How different reality was. Bush camping on different continents
