When we told people that we were moving to Australia, we often saw their eyes light up, almost like seeing the sun reflecting in them. Most of them have this image of people always wearing shorts, as if it is always summer everywhere in Australia.
As we know now, in winter it only takes a three hour drive from Melbourne to stand in the middle of a skiing area. Snowfall in Melbourne itself is not very common though. Although this winter there was a bit of snow in the Dandenongs, which is a half hour drive from our place.
With spring already started in the Southern hemisphere we were not expecting to see snow on our Tasmanian trip, but we did.
While we were hiking in Mount Field National Park in September we stumbled upon our first snow in Australia, so naturally we had to have a snowball fight. Yes, this is real snow!
