Quality time

It’s weekend here in Melbourne and the sun is out. Time to spend some quality time with the kids.

First up was Kai. Through the school savings program, where they encourage children to put some of their pocket money in a savings account by offering prizes, he earned himself a foam throwing ball/arrow, which we took out to the oval behind the school.

I call this the yellow foam-ball-arrow-throw-thing. (There probably is a "proper" name for this, but I like mine better.)

It's not far, but we took the bikes this time.

Fun times!

After about half an hour we noticed several people come up onto the green and inspect the state of the pitch (that’s the sandy part in the middle of the oval, for those not so versed in cricket). They were dressed in the jerseys of the home team, so we guessed that there was going to be a game on.

Checking the field and the pitch. All very leisurely and relaxed.

So, after a few more throws, we made our way back home. Getting there we almost bumped into Luka and Willemijn coming the other way. Seemed like Luka also wanted to do some outdoor activity with daddy.

Oh, all right, then… 🙂

So I took Luka to the playground at the park around the corner. We also took the yellow foam-ball-arrow-throw-thing, just for fun.

Luka is getting quite good at this, too.
Luka looks a lot more elegant when throwing than we boys do. Must be a girls thing.
The park has a lot more trees than the oval, so it's nice and shady.

Kai found us on our way back and informed us that lunch was ready. So we hurried home and dug right into some toasties. What a fun morning!
